PARISH GROUPS
AND REGULAR EVENTS
CHILDREN’S LITURGY GROUP
This group offers children an insight into the Sunday Gospel at their level, and encourages the children to live out the Gospel during the coming week. We offer a Children’s Liturgy (usually in term time) during every 10am Sunday Mass. Children leave church after following the Entrance Procession, and return to church at the Offertory. (Please make sure that your child knows where to find you when they return to church.) In the Parish Centre these children divide into two groups to explore the Liturgy with an adult catechist who is DBS checked.
The younger children (aged 0 – 6 years inclusive) meet in one room, the very young children accompanied by their parent. The older children (aged 7 – 10 years) meet in the other room. The Gospel is read and the message of the day is reflected on. An activity follows to help the children remember how they plan to live out the Gospel in the coming week. Prayerful time is encouraged before and after the Gospel.
If you would like to know more or to volunteer as a Catechist, please contact Liz Stead below.
SAINT VINCENT DE PAUL
SOCIety
Members of the Padley Martyrs SVP Conference meet every
second Tuesday of the Month, at 7.30pm, at The Church of the
Annunciation Parish Centre.
ABOUT THE SOCIETY
Our aim is to tackle poverty in all its forms through the provision
of practical assistance to those in need.
The concept of need is broader than financial hardship, so visiting people
who are sick, lonely, in prison, or suffering from addiction is also a
significant proportion of our work. The essence of our work is
person-to-person contact and spending time with people is our
greatest gift.
Our 10,000 volunteer members, motivated by their faith, are committed to
meaningful and long term befriending. Inspired by the message of the
Gospels they seek and find those in need and offer them sincere
friendship. They visit them in their homes, in hospital and in care homes
on a regular basis and offer additional practical support such as food,
furniture or financial help where needed. They also organise trips and
events for older and isolated people.
We offer friendship and practical help to all we visit, without regard to
faith, ethnicity, status or sexual orientation. As we visit people in their
homes we have strict safeguarding policies and procedures and all
visiting members must hold a DBS certificate.
Our core friendship service is complemented by additional areas of
activity – community support projects
(including community shops, furniture stores and advice centres),
youth work, holiday provision and overseas aid.

ABOUT RCIA
The Journey in Faith groups are a warm, friendly and well established
method for individuals to learn about the Good News of Jesus Christ
our Lord and Saviour, and the Church's teachings.
The teachings and doctrines of our Faith are explained in a series
of talks, which are open to people of other faiths – and no faith –
who wish to know more about Catholicism.
These weekly talks are given to inform, enhance and deepen the faith,
and whilst many people do choose to become Catholics at the end of
the course, there is no obligation to commit to this step.
If you are interested in attending please speak to one of our priests,
or use the main contact info at the bottom of the page.
Knit and Natter
Craft Afternoons
ABOUT THE GROUP
We are a happy band of ladies who meet weekly to knit, sew and crochet.
You would be welcome to work on your own ‘project’ or make something
to include on our ‘For Sale’ table at garden and Christmas fetes,
and other charity raising events.
Some of our ladies help in community projects, for example knitting
poppies for Armistice Day, baby blankets, hat and vests, and garments
for the homeless, etc.
We have tea, coffee, biscuits and home-made cake for a small fee.
Everyone is welcome to come and have a social and crafty afternoon
